It completed successfully but when I rebooted the system from the hard disk Windows gave me a weird error about something missing from the disk.Īt that point I booted from my Windows 7 System Restore CD as I was going to see how my backup worked using the native Win7 image utility.

I then installed the new hard drive, booted from the ver 11 CD and did a full restore. I peformed a full backup by booting from my ver 11 CD. I was able to test my bare metal restore capability by purchasing a spare 500GB boot drive of the same style that is in my Dell Precision T1500. Yes, I understand that Acronis 2010 cannot restore the version 11 backup. Based on my experiences so far I would not recommend ver 2010 to anyone. I have recommended the product to many of my friends and co-workers and they too have been satisfied. I have had to do bare metal restores of several laptops and desktops and it has worked perfectly. I've been using Acronis True Image for the last 6 years, going back to ver 8 and have been very satisfied. I will say though that this whole ver 2010 experience has been less than satisfying. I'm having to load and configure 50+ applications so it represents considerable effort that I do not wish to lose. While I tinker with ver 2010 I am looking for alternatives so that I can keep my production machine backed up in a manor that can be bare metal restored. I didn't mean to imply that I was giving up. The one I downloaded is sized 35,922kb so it is the latest one. If one option on the CD does not work, then I would try another option and try all options before I quit trying. I have no idea what the actual differences might be.ġst release=TrueImage2010_s_en.iso. You should have or get the latest release.

I'll just let this topic disappear into eternity now.All I am saying is that the 7046 download iso has been updated since its first release. I read some where to add to press F11 at the main screen and add "acpi=off noapic" to the end of "quiet", but that seemed to do absolutely nothing. VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (1,0) Eventually I get this kind of error on a black screen. No matter what option I click, it just goes to the Acronis logo screen and hangs there for up to 15 minutes. When I boot my computer with it, it goes to the main screen where you choose from Drive Cleanser, Windows, and all that. I tried creating a bootable media recovery disk. Even if I try canceling the backup, it just freezes, and I have to restart in order to close the operation.ĭoing the opposite, however, by backing up my C: drive to my external drive works fine. I've already scanned my disks with chkdsk, and everything is fine. To start, when I try backing up my Maxtor One Touch External Hard Drive to my C: drive, it backs up to about 6% or less and then just freezes there and doesn't move. Alright, I don't really expect that I'll get any replies because I rarely do any way, and in all honesty, this forum has not been very useful to me.Īll these people on this forum recommended Acronis 11 to me for backing up my system and creating recovery images.
